Self-Defense for Women

A couple of weeks ago, Julie Mignot, the chief instructor of our St-Leonard School hosted a special clinic for women only.

There's something about a woman being able to defend herself and not take any crap from anybody that turns me on.

Self Defense Clinic for Women

Seeing women first enter the school kinda shy, timid and self-conscious during their first few classes to eventually see them hit the gloves with confidence and watching their bodies transform as well as their attitudes is quite a sight.

Makes you wonder why all women don't invest a bit of time and effort in at least learning the basics of personal protection?

And this goes for men too: "They don't know that they don't know"

Better to find out that you "don't know" in a controlled environment than to find out when it's too late and you're faced with a real attacker.

Choke Defenses

"In a controlled environment, learning is both fun and challenging. It's okay to make mistakes so long as you don't freeze up and remember to keep attacking."

Personal Protection for Women

"Certain positions can be intimidating, especially if you've been pushed to the ground and find yourself in an inferior position, the fact that you've been there before in your training means it won't be so much of a shock if you ever find yourself there."

Personal Protection is a skill like any other. In my opinion it's right up there with Reading and Writing.

If you'd like to know more about Personal Protection or know someone who might benefit from learning these skills, let me suggest you get them started with my sister's brand new DVD on the subject of Women's Self-Defense.

You never know it might save someone's life one day or yours.

Something us men take for granted

As many of you know I live in a Japanese Style Pagoda which boasts a 3500 square foot training area which is also our studio for filming most of our training DVDs.

Every week on Wednesday I hear the crack of leather, deep breathing, feet shuffling around and women moaning and groaning to do one thing:

Have the body they've always dreamed of.

It's not easy to stay in shape. Look good after having had kids or drop unwanted pounds.

Something us men take for granted.

My sister, Sifu Christine has been drilling groups of ladies in our various schools to do just that.

To get women off their butt and working towards harnessing their inner strength.

In many ways women are stronger than us (yes I hate to admit it, but I couldn't see myself giving birth or handling the stresses of raising my kids on my own)

Some need to be reminded of this strength and what better way to do that than to start training.

She's designed a unique way of training to help women get started from where they are right now when it comes to their fitness level and get them ready for more intense workouts within the span of 5 weeks.

When she created these DVDs she had 3 areas she wanted to develop:

1. Pre-Natal Fitness.

Most women gain the most weight while pregnant and don't know where to get started after they've delivered their babies. In this DVD my sister is 9 months pregnant running through the steps she took and will take before and after the delivery.

2. Maintaining Fitness.

It's one thing to lose the weight but keeping it off is another story. These Workouts are designed to be very efficient, short, fat burning sessions. Even if your wife or girlfriend can't make it out to a live training, this DVD goes through the steps in great detail. Warrior Fitness can help drop up to 10 lbs in 5 weeks, it's that good.

3. Personal Protection.

Once you have the body and the confidence you're looking for, you want to protect what you got at all cost. Women's Self-Defense is a simple, effective "kick in the pants" to any would be attacker trying to put his hands on your wife or daughter.

If this sounds like something you would be interested in for the women in your life or you are a woman reading this and would like to get started send me an e-mail at info@fangshendo.com if you have questions and I'll help get you started.

It left me dazed and confused

2 months ago I asked the men on my list if their spouse, girlfriend, sister or mother was worth 37$.

Many answered yes and got a copy of my sister's new DVD, Women's Self-Defense Part 1.

But to tell you quite frankly alot of them didn't.

It left me dazed and confused. Asking myself: WTF?

You go to a movie and dinner with your wife and it costs you more than 37$, you mean to tell me her safety and the confidence knowing she can defend herself won't give you peace of mind?

Is it worth missing one meal so the women in your life can have tools they can use to protect themselves against scum who might take advantage of them or worse?

We're always left with this phrase wizzing through our head: "It'll never happen to me".

How many women in shelters todays told themselves the same thing?

It just pains me to look at the stats and don't take my word for it, do your own research.

The numbers are alarming.

I don't believe in getting scared though, I believe in getting prepared and putting all the odds on my side when it comes to personal protection and that extends to all the women in my life.

I even took the time to watch it with my daughter who's 5 years old.

I want her to know now that she can be a strong independent women and being a victim just ain't gonna happen if she learns to protect herself.

This time, take the time and get her a copy of this simple and to the point self-defense course.

You can't put a price on peace of mind and knowing you took the time to think of their safety will earn you some browny points.

Get it here.

Sibok M

P.S. I also realize many women today are independent and know a good buy when they see one, that's why many women on my list said: "Screw it, I'm not waiting on anyone to get me this DVD, I'll get my own. That's the kind of attitude and confidence you need to project to ward off a potential attacker. Get tough!

Here's what's most alarming.

It's good to see so many men saw the value of having the women in their life know how to protect themselves.

After last Thursdays e-mail: "Is she worth 37$" I got flooded with replies from men appreciating me just reminding them of how important personal protection is and especially when it comes to the women in their life.

It's a basic skill every women should possess.

It should be a mandatory course in High School.

Who is most prone to harassment, intimidation, physical and emotional abuse?

Here's what's most alarming.

Did you know that most acts of violence against women are commited by a spouse, husband, ex-husband, boyfriend, ex-boyfriend?

It's hard to understand what goes on in those men's heads.

Would you let any of those freaks around your wife, mother or sister?

I'm sure you'll agree women should be treated like Goddesses and that includes arming them with the right knowledge when it comes to protecting their self-esteem, confidence, integrity and their bodies.

We've laid out a simple system to help women protect themselves that does not require years of martial art training, special skill or ability.

It's presented in a very straight forward way by my "Take no BS from anybody" sister.

You can pick up a copy of this empowering DVD right here.

Is she worth 37$?

This one goes out to men today but for the women on my list please read this as it involves someone special: YOU.

If you're a man, I want you to take a minute to think of the women in your life.

Your wife, spouse, girl-friend, partner, better half, soul mate, sister, daughter, mother, basically all women you care about in your life.

I trust you would never want anything to happen to them, you'd have peace of mind knowing they are safe and able to protect themselves if they were ever placed in danger?

Are you 100% sure they could protect themselves?

Imagine for a second that you're not there. They're either at home taking care of the kids or they always finish work late and walk alone to their car through an empty parking lot.

Your wife might be alone on a business trip. She might be on a vacation with "the girls".

I'm not implying that women need men to protect them, I'm just asking the question: "Do you believe the women in your life could fight off a potential attacker, a first date gone bad, a stalker, a crazy ex-boyfriend with 100% certainty?

I'm a strong believer that every women on the planet should be trained to quickly hurt or disable a man who tries to hurt, intimidate, harass, rape, or take, what doesn't belong to them".

All women should be physically fit, possess enough endurance to out-run an attacker and condition specific parts of their bodies which they can use to defend themselves.

Why leave it to chance or telling yourself: "It'll never happen to me" or worse waiting until something does happen and then quickly start a self-defense program? Doesn't make any sense.

I often overhear men asking themselves what to buy for St-Valentines or what to get for their wives birthday.

Who cares about the ring, clothes or any other material thing?

The gift of personal protection should be on the top of your list.

Don't you agree?

Nowhere in history have women been so empowered to reach for their goals and break out of the norm.

But on the flip side, at no other time have women been so exposed to falling in a potentially dangerous situation.

So where to start?

I agree at the first thought of having your wife or girl-friend know how to defend herself you're thinking: big cauliflower ears like most of the men in the UFC and a man's physique with a deep voice saying: "HEY honey get OVER here!"

That's not my idea of a self-defense program for women.

That's where my sister comes in.

She's a Bad-Ass.

Don't be fooled when you see her: sweet looking, delicate and friendly, enough to make you think my dad gave her, her black belt and Sifu title.

That's exactly how I see it. Actually, that's the point, you don't see it.

It becomes a secret weapon the women in your life possess which they can rely on to protect their ASS-ets.

How much is that worth to you? The piece of mind knowing they can take care of themselves when you're not there?

Is she worth 37$?

Imagine she's right next to you right now, Is she worth 37$?

Get her started with the basics here.

Thank me later.

Women's Self-Defense

What better way to build your confidence than to train with a group of like minded women in a safe comfortable environment?

This is what these women are doing.

In our women's self-defense classes held in all of our schools, we let women release some of their frustrations on Bags, Focus Mitts (leather gloves you can strike) or on a few guys wearing body armor.

There are so many demands put on women these days: Being a great mom, a boss, an effective worker, and a lover while still finding time for yourself to stay fit and look good in a pair of jeans.

Most women find these classes rejuvenating, liberating, and empowering. Self-Defense has a lot to do with confidence and the energy you project out.

What do you project? Strength or Weakness?

Project confidence and strength, don't be a victim.

Some women come to us to learn to protect themselves. Some need more guidance and follow through on some of the fitness goals they've established, something they can't seem to find at the local gym. And some need to work on Confidence.

Whatever your goals we can help.

Take time for yourself.

Learn a practical skill, grow stronger and never let yourself be intimidated.

Learn how by joining one of our classes today. Click this link to get started.
